Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Argentine journalist and novelist Leila Guerriero is part of the Official Selection Jury at the Festival. When she received an invitation from José Luis Rebordinos, she did not hesitate to change her agenda so she could participate in this “challenge.” She confesses that she has a close relationship with cinema and with books, noting one significant difference: “Although I’m a great reader and I write, I go to the cinema a lot but I don’t make films.”
She’s been pleasantly surprised by the film-festival atmosphere in Donostia: “I went to see a film this morning and I thought things would be quiet, but the cinema was packed. It is exciting to see how the city experiences the Festival.” Guerriero is delighted that she’s been able to “really binge” on films. “I take a lot of notes at the end of each film.” Being a journalist, she emphasizes the importance of this habit: “We already know how treacherous memory is. You finish seeing something, you have a lot of ideas, and you think you’re going to remember it all... and by the third film you’ve seen, you can’t remember the first one. And I’m really meticulous.”
