Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
A year later than expected due to the Hollywood writers and actors strike, Javier Bardem finally picked up his Zinemaldia award this Friday at an opening gala at which he took the opportunity to thank all the affection that he had been shown over the last three decades. “I accept this award with all the love that this festival has always given me,” he said, as he tried to bring to a close the applause and cheers of the audience, who included his wife, Penélope Cruz; his siblings, Mónica and Carlos Bardem; and his former drama teacher, theatre director Juan Carlos Corazza, who had the responsibility of presenting him with the award and highlighted his “vocation and commitment.” He also thanked Bardem “for his dedication to the fragile and mysterious current of art, with the faith that art is es sential for the health of society.”
“Since my first visit here with in 1993 I have had a really close friendship with this festival that has given me so muchwhich has given me so much, both personally and professionally,” the actor said, and he dedicated the award to four people: his late mother, Pilar Bardem, who taught him “the importance of loving and not looking the other way”; his wife, Penélope Cruz, whom he thanked for also taking responsibility for his life; and his two children, Leonardo and Luna.
In addition, Bardem also dedicated a few words to Bigas Luna, “the origin of all this”, and to Corazza, who pas sed on to him “a love for acting” and taught him “to turn into inspiration” all the negative things in life.
