Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The San Sebastian Festival will have two meeting points at its 72nd edition. The Euskadi Basque Country Karpa on the Kursaal esplanade will open on 20-28 September from 12:00-23:00. The marquis, promoted by the Hazi Foundation belonging to the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government, will have different areas for film teams, passholders and the general public, where they can enjoy drinks and pintxos made with Basque produce. This space is yet another feature of the determined effort to support the complete food chain currently being rolled out by the Basque Government in the endeavour to promote the high-quality local produce that makes the Basque Country an international benchmark.
Every afternoon, from 19:00-22:00, except on the 25th, there will be music with a DJ, while several tastings and events will take place throughout the week.
In addition, for the second year running, the Festival and the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture will provide the Keler Topagunea meeting point from Monday 23rd to Thursday 26th September (19:30-23:00) in the Tabakalera audiovisual laboratory. The initiative, which has the sponsorship of Keler and collaboration of BIME is intended for moviemakers, film industry professionals and journalists, all accredited guests at the Festival, particularly those whose work focuses on programmes and sections promoted by the Festival and Tabakalera. Among these are the teams accompanying films selected for the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera and Nest sections, the residents of Ikusmira Berriak, Noka and 2deo serieak, current and former students of the EQZE and participants in the investors meetings and in other professional and cultural activities taking place in the building. A pass is required for entry.
Each day, Keler Topagunea will have a different themed event. On Monday 23 it will be dedicated to Kabia, the day for up-and-coming film talent and, in particular, to its networking activity. Tuesday 24th will see the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Ikusmira Berriak residencies with the presence of representatives of its various editions. Wednesday 25th will bring the evening organised with BIME, the international music industry event taking place in Bilbao and Bogotá. And on Thursday 26th Keler Topagunea will host the European Climate Foundation, a philanthropic initiative which, during 2024, has worked with the Festival to raise awareness on incorporation of the climate focus to contemporary narratives. The collaboration with BIME will also translate into a daily music programme: on the 23rd with DJ Gela; on the 24th with Puñales; on the 25th Divorce from NY; and on the 26th with GONZ.NE.
