Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The San Sebastian Festival and Euskal Irrati Telebista (EITB) have signed an agreement under which the Communications Group will become an Official Sponsor of the event’s 72nd edition. The contract, aiming to develop and strengthen the Festival, is initially for one year, although this period may be extended for a further two editions.
EITB has been a Festival collaborator for more than two decades. However, starting this edition, the audiovisual Group will notably increase its presence and informative coverage of the event as an Official Sponsor, alongside RTVE and Movistar Plus+, its Media Partner.
EiTB’s regular informative work will now include a personalised set in San Sebastian city centre, to function as an activities centre throughout the nine days of the event. Here a number of live broadcasts will run associated to EITB radio or TV programmes including the recording of interviews and other content for immediate or deferred broadcasting. The Group will maintain its radio set inside the Kursaal building.
The ties between the Festival and EITB will be reflected once again in its sponsorship of both Zinemira, the section on Basque Cinema, and the Basque Cinema Gala, whose regular screening will be replaced this year by a show featuring performances by musicians and artists from the Basque cultural scene. In addition, the Basque corporation will showcase some of its latest productions at the EITB Gala in the Victoria Eugenia Theatre.
EITB will closely follow the event via its numerous media outlets (ETB, Euskadi Irratia, Radio Euskadi, Gaztea, eitb.eus…), as well as live broadcasting the opening, closing, Donostia Awards and Basque cinema galas. Its news programmes will also dedicate a substantial slot to live information, reports, interviews and features.
The Festival and EITB jointly undertake to create “an ongoing framework of collaboration” under which the agreement may extend to the next two editions, those of 2025 and 2026, during which the parties will endeavour to promote the Festival as a “cultural expression of international reach”.
