Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Acclaimed for her debut film Cinco lobitos (Zinemira, 2022), which won numerous Goya Awards, Alauda Ruíz de Azua is back at the Film Festival with Querer; a miniseries with four episodes, which is part of the Official Selection programme. Nagore Aranburu plays Miren who, after thirty years of marriage and two children together, leaves her home and denounces her husband for continued rape.
Asked what attracted her to the project, she says that she found the idea of portraying consent within marriage really interesting, and her producers had the idea of doing something about a woman who denounces her husband for rape. “I admit that it was a premise that generated a torrent of ideas as well as some very difficult questions to answer, and right from the start we thought it had to be a series because the episodic formula worked really well.”
She also says that she found it really interesting to make a series in which you only have access to four perspectives from a very specific point in time; where there is no past, no flashbacks: the same way we have to judge a case like this in real life.
