Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
This year thirteen short films have been selected for the Nest section from among the 428 submissions received from 200 schools in 48 countries, a record with respect to submissions received in the history of the international film students meeting at the San Sebastian Festival. The selected schools are from Germany, Chile, Cuba, Denmark, Spain, the USA, France, Japan, Portugal, the UK, the Dominican Republic and Taiwan. The shorts will be competing for the Nest the Mediapro Studio award worth 10,000 euros for the winning film, presented by a jury chaired by the Argentine filmmaker Albertina Carri and made up of a group of students from the selected schools. As well as presenting their work, students will also attend four conversations with directors who are presenting their films in other sections: Leos Carax, Anton Álvarez (C.Tangana), Jane Schoenbrun and Laura Carreira.
