Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Australian director Warwick Thornton is currently in San Sebastián to present The New Boy, a film that Cate Blanchett has produced and costars in. He acknowledges that the film came out of his memories as an aboriginal child at a boarding school run by Benedictine monks and remembers the image of Jesus on the cross on the altar of the parish church that made a huge impact on him. As time went by, he became a filmmaker and he always thought that those memories would provide him with material to develop a story but it took a long time to start working on it. He reveals that Cate Blanchett had been telling him for years that she wanted to make a film with him. When he sent her the script of The New Boy he warned her that she would only have a small role, but she was delighted to join the project, which was marvellous because this meant it was much easier to get funding.
