Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
This year the Nest section, the international competition for shorts by film school students, has selected 13 projects from among the 421 submitted by 209 schools in 53 countries. Fourteen film students from Belgium, Colombia, Spain, India, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland will meet for five days and present and screen their work. They will also attend two masterclasses given by directors Raven Jackson (All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt, Official Selection) and Lila Avilés (Tótem, Horizontes Latinos) as well as two conversations with the director and member of the Official Jury Christian Petzold (Roter Himmel / Afire, Perlak) and the cinematographer and editor Artur Tort.
As a result of the new agreement with the Master’s Degree in Screenwriting at The Mediapro Studio, this year the section’s prize has been renamed The Mediapro Studio Award. Ten students from the master’s degree will also participate in the activities organised by Nest during the Festival.
