Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
David Hurst (Périgueux, France) studied History before working in films, starting as a location and production manager. After 12 years dealing with a great number of shoots and a two year stay in New York, he joined Dublin Films in 2011 to dedicate himself to author cinema. Based in Bordeaux, where Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region strongly supports the film industry, David has built a strong editorial line, carrying fictions and documentaries that defend the idea of diversity, concentrating on cultural, societal and political issues. In the past six years Dublin Films has been focusing on supporting emerging talents throughout the world, especially in Latin America. He is also the president of PEÑA (Produire en Nouvelle- Aquitaine), an association of independent production companies.
Among the films that David has produced or coproduced are: Mon tissu préféré (My Favorite Fabric, Gaya Jiji, 2018), presented in Un Certain Regard at Cannes; La arrancada (Aldemar Matías, 2019), screened in the Panorama Section at the Berlin Festival; Nos corps sont vos champs de bataille (Our Bodies Are Your Battlefields, Isabelle Solas, 2021), winner of the Best Film Award in the Premio Maguey’s competition at the Guadalajara Festival; La roya (Juan Sebastián Mesa, 2021) which competed at New Directors in San Sebastián; Anhell69 (Theo Montoya, 2022), presented at the Venice Critics’ Week; Pornomelancolía (Manuel Abramovich, 2022), which competed for the Golden Shell and won the Jury Prize for Best Cinematography at the San Sebastian Festival and was previously selected for Ikusmira Berriak (2018) and WIP Latam (2021); and Continente (Davi Pretto, 2022) which was also selected for WIP Latam at San Sebastián (2022).
