Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat gave a masterclass on 21 September 2021 in Tabakalera's Z Room, as part of the 69th edition of the San Sebastian Festival. The conversation focused on the challenges faced by a female director in Afghanistan and on her country's cinema. Wolf and Sheep (2016), Sadat's debut film, was selected and awarded at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight. Its sequel, The Orphanage, was also an award winner (2019).
