Isaki Lacuesta won the Golden Shell at San Sebastián in 2011 with Los pasos dobles and has now returned to the Official Selection with Entre dos aguas, which, in turn, is the sequel to La leyenda del tiempo, the film that he shot 12 years ago in the same location, San Fernando, with the same characters - two gypsy brothers who are now adults. Isra has just spent three years in jail for drug dealing and is trying to go straight, while Cheíto is back from a long mission with the Marines and dreams of setting up his own bakery.
The director explained that what they had aimed to do was to capture the passage of time. And now that the social networks encourage us to only connect with people who are like us, he also wanted to emphasis how cinema can help us get inside the heads of people who are very different. Lacuesta is not sure whether there will be a third part in the future, as these are films that really wear you out, emotionally, intellectually and physically.
