Max Factor, the San Sebastian Film Festival official makeup provider, has chosen the actress Bárbara Lennie as Spanish cinema’s most glamorous face for her beauty and sophistication before the camera. It also implicitly recognises her talent as a professional in the sector given her incredible gift for acting.
According to Mr. Max Factor, pioneer of makeup and glamour, creator of the emblematic transformations undergone by divas during Hollywood’s Golden Age, “glamour is not only a powerful expression of femininity, it is also an instinct and the right of women to create their own personal statement”. Bárbara Lennie is the reflection of this iconic glamour, legacy of Max Factor, but with a modern touch, making her the perfect muse that Mr. Max Factor always imagined when creating his film looks.
The award will be presented on the morning of September 27th at 11:00 am in the Elcano lounge of the María Cristina hotel.
About Bárbara Lennie:
Actress from Madrid with Argentine parents, graduate in Acting from the Royal School for Dramatic Arts.
Professionally, she has starred in movies such as Obaba (Montxo Armendariz, 2005), opening film of the San Sebastian Festival, for which she received her first Goya nomination; Todas las canciones hablan de mí (Every Song is About Me,Jonás Trueba, 2011); El Niño (Daniel Monzón, 2014), for which she also landed a Goya nomination; Magical Girl (Carlos Vermut, 2014), Golden Shell and Goya for Best Actress; El Apóstata (The Apostate,Federico Veiroj, 2015), Special Jury Prize and Fipresci Prize at San Sebastian; and María y los demás (María [and the Others],Nely Reguera, 2016), part of the New Directors selection and which earned her a fourth nomination for the Film Academy awards. She also worked in Las trece rosas (The Thirteen Roses), by Emilio Martínez Lázaro and La piel que habito (The Skin I live In, by Pedro Almodóvar), as well as having won two Feroz Awards(Magical Girl and María y los demás)and the Spanish Actors Union Award for her work in the theatre play La función por hacer.
At the 65th edition of the San Sebastian the actress will present, in the starring role, the film screening in the Official Selection, Una especie de familia (A Sort of Family) a co-production between Argentina, Brazil, Poland and France, directed by the Argentine filmmaker Diego Lerman.
Also in the scope of the Festival, she will present a preview of El Reino, the fourth feature film as a director from Rodrigo Sorogoyen, winner last year, with Isabel Peña, of the Best Screenplay Award at San Sebastian for Que Dios nos perdone (May God Save Us).
