A MOLDOVAN IDYLL

Anişoara is Moldovan director Ana-Felicia Scutelnicut’s graduation film from the German Film and Television academy in Berlin. She had gone there to study as the film industry in Moldova is almost non-existent and she had always wanted to shoot films, inspired by the fact that her
father was also a film director when her country formed part of the Soviet Union.
She has been really pleased that the film has been well received at international festivals as she wasn’t sure how people would react to such a minimalist, almost experimental film. Shot in a small village in the very heart of Moldova, thanks to the beautiful colours and textures that the director has used, the village and its surrounding countryside are one of the most striking features of the film.
