Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Yet another year the Antonio Elorza Velodrome will serve as the setting for numerous activities at the 63rd Festival. The special session of September 26 includes a broadcast of the closing gala, screening of the Festival closing film, Rufus Norris’s London Road, and the film bringing the Pearls section to a close, Nanni Moretti’s Mia Madre. Rounding off the session is a short film from the Zabaltegi-participating Kimuak catalogue: Tucker Dávila Wood’s Duellum.
The Velodrome will also host the releases of Dani de la Torre’s El desconocido, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Hotel Transylvania 2.
Every morning the Velodrome is set aside for a children’s audience thanks to the agreed programme with Basque primary and secondary schools. This year’s film will be Astérix: Le domaine des dieux / Asterix and Obelix: Mansion of the Gods (Astérix: La residencia de los dioses / Astérix: Jainkoen egoitzan), dubbed into Basque and Spanish.
A hugely popular section screening big premieres to packed sessions in a cinema with seating for an audience of 3,000, cutting-edge screening systems and a giant 400 m² screen.
Every morning, the Velodrome is set aside for a kids’ audience. Thanks to an agreement with Basque primary and secondary schools, the Velodrome offers an exclusive programme treating schoolchildren to a film in Basque on the giant screen.
