Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
This year Culinary Zinema will be screening thirteen full-length films and four shorts all to do with food that will provide an overview of some of the most famous cuisines from all over the world. As in previous years each night a prestigious chef will be preparing a themed dinner based on one of the films shown that day. The section will be opened by Campo a través. Mugaritz, intuyendo un camino, a film about the well-known local restaurant made by Pep Gatell of La Fura del Baus. The section will once again be jointly organised by the Basque Culinary Center and the Berlin Film Festival, with support from the Tokyo Goham Film Festival. The latter festival will also be providing the 10,000€ prize to be awarded to the best film in the section, while Nespresso will be the main sponsor of Culinary Zinema for the first time and Perrier-Jouet will be providing their prestigious champagne for the themed dinners.
