Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The curtain will go up at nine o’clock tonight in the Kursaal at the opening ceremony for the 63rd San Sebastián Film Festival. Once again Patxi Barco will be directing the gala, which will be following the guidelines he established three years ago with the emphasis on sobriety and elegance. The main aesthetic element on the stage will be based on this year’s official poster with a pair of eyes and the colours red, blue and yellow, while music will be provided by the Basque txalaparta duo Oreka TX. The event will be hosted by the actresses Mireia Gabilondo and Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo while various Spanish actors and actresses such as Itziar Ituño, Dafne Fernández, Bárbara Goenaga, Paco Léon and Antonio Resines will be presenting the contents of this year’s festival, accompanied by excerpts from the films that are going to be screened over the next 9 days, together with an overview of all the different sections in the Festival. As usual, the Fipresci Grand Prix will be presented during the ceremony, awarded by the International Federation of Film Critics. This year the award will go to Mad Max: Fury Road by George Miller. To bring things to a close, the filmmaker Alejandro Amenáber will be saying a few words to the audience to present his film Regression which will be screened after the gala.
