Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Six decades after her death, Evita is still the most influential figure in Argentine political history. “That’s precisely what my film is all about: her persistence as a myth,” filmmaker Pablo Agüero explained during the presentation of his film Eva no duerme. The director thinks that Evita’s status as an icon can only be compared to Ché in importance. “In both case their image has been manipulated by people who were diametrically opposed to both of them, ideologically speaking. It was Isabel, Peron’s second wife, who repatriated Evita’s corpse with all the trappings in collusion with the officers who plotted the 1976 coup. That was a real propaganda show.”
The director makes use of the tribulations that Evita’s corpse underwent (it was embalmed, desecrated, expatriated and finally returned to her country and buried) to take a look at the period just before the military junta came to power, a period that stretches from Perón’s overthrow in 1955 to the early 1970s.
