Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Parisian producer Julie Salvador is one of the seven members of the Official Section Jury this year, and she thinks that festivals are really important. “They’re vital, because they are the beginning of the adventure that a film goes on; it’s as if everything began here because the first screening with an audience and critics is the one that tells you whether it’s successful or not; you can see how the audience and the press react.”
This is the second time she has been to San Sebastián, which she visited in 2014 as the producer of Vincent n’a pas d’écailles, a film directed by her brother Thomas, that was screened in the New Directors section. This time around she will have to watch and judge 17 films, a selection that she considers to be really eclectic. “I think it’s a varied and demanding programme with the best from all over the world.”
“I still love watching films and all its genres, but what I most value in a film is the feeling it arouses in me, regardless of whether it’s a crime film, a superhero film, a comedy or a musical.”
