On an expedition in a remote African jungle, John Greystoke and his wife die in a helicopter accident while investigating the spot where, 70 million years ago, a meteorite had fallen containing minerals that could solve the world's energy problems. Only their young son J.J., also known as Tarzan, survives. A group of gorillas discovers the boy and takes him in as one of their own.
