Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The meeting gathers students from film schools all over the world to attend screenings of their previously selected shorts, discussions and master classes given by industry professionals. A competition between the short films presented at the meeting will also be called where a student jury, chaired by a prestigious filmmaker, will choose the winner of the Panavision Award and the Freak Agency Award. The jury will similarly decide the names of the three directors given the opportunity to participate in the Short Film Corner at Cannes.
For the first time this year, the Meeting will have three new awards. Firstly the Torino Award, for one of the directors taking part in the Meeting and decided by a specific Jury; secondly, the BioBio Award, for the Panavision Award winning short film and finally the Orona Ward for the most cutting edge film in the Meeting.
The International Film Students Meeting is jointly organized by the Festival and Tabakalera-International Centre for Contemporary Culture; it enjoys the backing of San Sebastian European Capital of Culture 2016 and the collaboration of Panavision, Freak Agency, Short Film Corner, TorinoFilmLab, BioBio Cine, Festival Internacional de Concepción and Fundación Orona.
