Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
According to Dutch director Jim Taihuttu, film festivals in Holland are usually full of old people so he was delighted to see so many young people at the first screening of his film Wolf that is competing in the New Directors section, as he himself acknowledged that it’s aimed at a young audience. His first film Rabat surprised all the Dutch producers with the success it had among the young and he hopes to repeat this with his second film. “I’m really attracted by the idea of getting a young audience to go to the cinema to see a black and white film,” he said.
The story of Wolf emerged while he was shooting his first film. It also starred Marwan Kenzari and during one of the rehearsals the director and actor spoke about a young kickboxer whose life was on the skids. “I got really excited about the idea and I’ve been writing the script for two years expressly for him.”
