If there is anyone who knows all there is to know about the world of film production, then this is Bruno Bettati, the manager of Jirafa Films, and president of the Chilean Association of Film and TV Producers until 2012. Bettati is chairing the Horizontes Latinos Jury this year and this has brought him to the Festival where he has finally had the chance to get to know San Sebastián. “I’ve always followed the Festival really closely, but I had never been able to come, and this year is the perfect opportunity. Festivals are really for directors and actors, and they rarely invite producers; in addition we producers generally have very little time to watch films in ideal conditions, like here: on a big screen, in the dark and in silence, so being a jury member is an opportunity to see other colleagues’ work properly.” He also praises the section for providing an excellent summary of the best Latin American cinema of the year.
