Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Juan Martin Hsu’s feature debut La Salada has won San Sebastian Film Festival’s Films in Progress, which is one of the leading pix in post competitions for Latin American films.
The film focuses on the experiences of immigrants in Argentina as they struggle with loneliness and home- ickness. Pic follows three stories that intersect at an open-air market.
The pic, which won the INCAA first film competition, was produced by Sudestada Cine. The prize will provide services to ensure the film’s completion, and also secures a release in Spain.
The result was a surprise for industry insiders, as Chilean revenge drama To Kill a Man was expected to win. However, the fact that it had already won prizes at two other events -Locarno’s Carte Blanche and Sanfic WIP in Santiago de Chile- may have weighed against it.
