The directorial debut from Dustin Hoffman, one of the great Hollywood actors, focuses on Reggie, Wilf and Cissie, who reside in a home for retired opera singers. Each year they stage a concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday, but the arrival of Reggie's ex-wife creates tension when she plays the diva part but refuses to sing in the concert.
