Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Argentine director, Carlos Sorín, a regular visitor to the festival who this year is presenting Dias de Pesca in the Official Section, says that he’s not sure whether there is such a thing as a Sorín formula, although he ironically confesses that he does think that there might be a risk of repetition in his case. “What I’m quite clear about is that I only make films about things that move me.”
Alejandro Wada, the actor who plays the leading role in the film, explained how for Sorín what’s most important is to capture the importance of small things and silences. Sorín agreed: “Words are deceptive, that’s why in my films what is left unsaid is more important than what is actually spoken, because this has the advantage of ambiguity and lets the audience finish off the story.”
