Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
A chef who has run out of ideas and an assistant witha lot of flair for haute cuisine are the main characters in Comme un chef, the gastronomic comedy that is opening the Culinary Zinema section. Just like in the film, Aizpea Oihaneder and Xabi Díez (Xarma Jatetxea) and Roberto Ruíz (Frontón Restaurant), are also hoping that people enjoy the joint meal they have prepared. They are responsible for the first of the themed dinners that accompany the section each day. Aizpea revealed that given that the film dealt with the subject of haute cuisine, they had decided to prepare a series of dishes using fairly complex techniques. Although since Xarma Jatetxea opened five years ago it had always had a certain predilection for the Festival, this was the first time that they had collaborated directly with the Festival. “It’s a real luxury for us to take part in this section”, Aizpea Oihaneder confessed.
