Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Despite only being 31, Mia Hansen-Løve has already had a wide variety of experience in the world of cinema in several different fields. She has been an actress, has directed several award-winning films and has also worked as a critic for “Cahiers du cinema.”
Nevertheless, she plays down her work as an actress and journalist. “My experience
as an actress was very brief and I wrote about cinema as an apprenticeship in order to
be able one day to make films. Many filmmakers I admire have followed a similar path,
François Truffaut, to name but one. But I basically consider myself to be a director.”
It’s the first time she’s been at the Festival and she says that she’s been really impressed
by the fact that nearly all the screenings are packed out, something that doesn’t always
happen at other festivals.
