The Canadian programmer Diana Sánchez is currently forming part of the New Directors
Jury. She says that what she mainly looks for in a film is a good script with an original voice that creates atmospheres and textures; something more than just telling a story. She feels it’s something instinctive, that when you see it, you know is there on both an emotional and an intellectual level. Instead of films where they serve everything up on a plate, what she likes are films that ask you to put in a bit of effort.
She also thinks that a festival like this one is a way of interacting with cinema; something that would be impossible otherwise in an age when less and less people go the cinema to watch films.
