The Chilean director Cristian Jiménez has brought Bonsai, his latest film, to San Sebastián. It’s an intimist look at the passage of time and memories of a love affair, that like a Bonsai, refuses to grow. “It’s a film that talks about the mental space between being young and being an adult: about learning to live and re-live your first experiences of love when you get to your thirties, which is when to a certain extent you start to seriously create your own personal narrative.”
The film was premiered at Cannes in May and has also been screened at festivals in Munich, Colorado and Toronto, and already has a distributor for its Spanish release.
