Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Javier Martín (Valladolid, 1970) holds a Degree in Economic Sciences.
In 1995 he moved to Paris, where he studied Visual and Documentary Anthropology at l’École Pratique des Hautes Études – Sorbonne, gaining practical experience in production and editing.
In 1997, in Paris, he organised a tribute conference for the author Manuel Vázquez Montalbán in collaboration with the ARTE TV channel.
From 1998 until 2001 he worked for the French distribution company, Colifilms, specialising in distribution of Spanish and Latin American films in France. Meanwhile, he coordinated several coproductions with Spain and Mexico, through the French production company, Albares Productions.
Since 2002 he works as a programmer at the Forum des Images, a film body dependent upon Paris City Council, where he was responsible for different functions, including organisation of the exhaustive Iranian film retrospective “Portraits de Téhéran” in 2003.
Between 2006 and 2011 he worked for the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, initially as a correspondent for Spain and Latin America, before joining the Selection Committee in the 2010 and 2011 editions.
Based in Paris, Javier Martín has maintained connections with different Spanish festivals. Thus, between 2005 and 2007 he coordinated the International Film School Meeting at San Sebastian Festival. Prior to this, he had worked with Valladolid’s SEMINCI, programming the cycle “1939. Memory of an Exile”.
In 2005 he co-founded Espagnolas en Paris, a group of film professionals who foster the regular presence of Spanish films in France in addition to organising professional meetings and the Différent! festival.
He has also given talks at several symposiums and workshops, including the International Conference on Contemporary Audiovisuals (IVAC-Valencia Film Library, 2007); the symposium “"Cinema, Europe, the World: towards a policy for cinematographic cooperation in the EU" (CNC-Centre National du Cinéma, 2008); and the Cinemalab workshops (ARCALT / CICAE - Toulouse, 2010).
He has sat on juries at the Toulouse, Valdivia (Chile) and FICUNAM (Mexico) festivals, among others.
