Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Argentine director Victoria Galardi’s second film Cerro Bayo was screened yesterday in the Official section. It is set in a Patagonian village at the foot of Mount Bayo as the skiing season approaches, and the director herself explained that for her the characters were more important than the subject: “when I make a film I don’t consider the subject. First I think about the characters and then the themes emerge which are the family, money, and meanness”.Victoria
Galardi portrays an environment in which everyone knows everyone else that she knows
really well as she grew up in a mountain village.
The film has received the TVE Another Look Award for films that focus on subjects related
to the female world, which was a great surprise for Victoria Galardi: “just being here is a prize in itself.”
