Presented yesterday in the Official Section, the documentary Bicycle, spoon,apple portrays
the progress of Pasqual Maragall’s struggle against Alzheimer’s disease. The ex-president of Catalonia and his family allowed director Carles Bosch to film them over a period of two years as the disease gradually took its toll. Maragall himself stressed that he wanted it to be an entertaining film and that he was sick of Alzheimer victims becoming objects of pity.
The aim of the film, which is promoted by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, is to fight against the disease and set up a research centre to try and find a cure before the number of suffers increases to a really catastrophic level.
