Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Iranian director Vahid Vakilifar in what is his first full-length film Gesher, portrays the lives of three men who leave their homes to go and work in search of a better life and end up living in a disused pipeline. He explained that Gesher is a story inspired by a real situation,because,“ an important part has to do with people who live there that I have been able to interact with so I could get to know how they lived.” He stressed that they had tried to make the film as honest as possible and added that only one of the characters was a professional actor; all the others were real.
Filmed against a desolate backdrop, the film is visually stunning and highly suggestive.
Its director of photography explained that, “in an ugly area we can always find a touch of beauty,” He added that they used torches to light up certain areas but in others they didn’t use anything because they wanted it to be utterly real; in short, what they wanted was to find
a balance between real life and what was shown on screen
