The Uruguayan director Federico Veiroj presented La vida útil yesterday in the New Directors section of Zabaltegi. It’s about a guy who works in a film archive who gets the sack and is forced to discover a world that is utterly alien to him. Jorge Jellinek, who is actually a film critic in real life, plays the leading role. The director said that ”I was interested in talking about a character who was involved in the environment of the film archive and about the relationship he had with the outside world, as well seeing what happened to him when he is forced to leave his job.” The film won the Films in Progress Industry Award last year.
