Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Home for Christmas is a modern Christmas Carol based on a selection of short stories by the Norwegian author, Levi Henriksen, that take place during the Christmas period when the pale Norwegian light plays an important role in their development.
Couples that come together, others that split up, emigrants looking for a better future, a father who is separated from his children or a prologue right in the middle of the war in Kosovo make up the narrative with which director Bent Hamer has aimed to show that the decisions we take or don’t take are what make us what we are. Hamer says that the fact that the story takes place at Christmas is purely incidental and that it could have been set at any time of year. However,“in this period everybody is on edge so it’s a good time to show the problems that each of the characters faces.”
