Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Uruguayan director Federico Veiroj is a member of this year’s Horizontes Latinos section jury which will be awarding a prize worth 35,000 Euros to the best Latin American film. Along with Ilse Hughan and Manuel Pérez Estremera, he has already seen more than half of the films that are competing this year, and although it is too soon to really judge, Veiroj thinks that the Festival has clearly taken quite a lot of care in selecting the films in this section and that they reflect the cinema that is being made at the present time in Latin America really well. He confesses that it is a great honour for him to be here on the Jury, especially with two such important people from the world of cinema like Manolo Estremera and Ilse, who have been closely linked to Latin American cinema for a long time. "It really is a privilege."
In his opinion the Horizontes Latinos section is a vital showcase for all the Latin American films that are taking part as San Sebastián has always been known as the most important festival for this kind of cinema in Europe.
