The Argentine director,Adrián Biniez, composer and singer in the pop group Reverb, says that the starting point for his film Gigante was a sentence on his computer: “security guard falls in love with a supermarket cleaner during the night shift.”
In three months he had the script ready and he began to look for a producer. He reveals that he had always wanted to make films but he couldn’t so he went into music instead. “In Argentina, as I hadn’t studied cinema, I had no links with this world; I’m a total outsider.Whereas when I went to live in Uruguay as my friends are filmmakers, everything ran much more smoothly.”
The director, who has spent the last 6 years living in Montevideo is delighted with the result.“I’m really happy; just being here is already great, the simple fact that there are people in the film theatre is really exciting for me, it’s part of the prize.”
