Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
El secreto de tus ojos has already been a hit in Argentina and was screened here at the Festival in the Official Section yesterday. Its director Juan José Campanella confessed that he was nervous before it was premiered: “I always think it’s going to be a disaster.” In his opinion in cinema there is no happiness, only relief. “When it starts to work out, it’s a relief, as we never really expected that it would be so successful.”
Half of the film consists of looks and gazes: he thinks that the main difference between cinema and other art forms is the use of your eyes and the possibility of the close-up.“I had the chance to narrate a film using my eyes and this is enormously enriching. And the actors in my film did have this ability. The rest of the film consists of quick-fire witty dialogues inspired by Italian cinema.“Italian comedy is the strongest influence on my films. We grew up with those films.”
