Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The San Sebastian Film Festival Eighth International Film School Meeting, coordinated with Tabakalera-International Contemporary Cultural Centre, will be held on the 24th and 25th of September in the Kutxa auditorium in the Calle Andía.
This event provides future filmmakers from anywhere in the world the chance to exchange experiences and knowledge in a space where they can show their work not just to invited specialists at the festival but also to the general public who can attend the sessions free of charge.
Seventy international schools will be presenting 175 shorts this year from schools from Israel, Poland, the USA, Mexico, Spain and Germany, among others.
The shorts will be assessed by a jury chaired by the innovative Spanish producer and director Lluis Miñarro, and the winner will be awarded the Panavision prize, consisting of a Sony EX III camera for four weeks of shooting or a loan of 10,000 Euros for any rented Panavision material. The jury will also choose the three directors who will be taking part in the Short Film Corner at the next Cannes Film Festival.
