Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Director Enrique Rivero presented his first fulllength film yesterday in San Sebastián. It has two main characters: Beto and the house that he looks after. Rivero explains that he was interested in the story right from the start: “I knew Beto and how he had worked as a caretaker for thirty years and I also knew the 1950’s house he’d worked at in the Las Lomas area of Mexico City so I thought the story was really interesting and would allow me to explore the subject of routine and boredom".
He shot the film at home without using sets or special effects.“I agree that it’s hard to tell the story of a boring life without boring the audience, but I had to reflect the routine and pace of days that were exactly the same day after day and year after year,” the director explains.
