The Catalan producer Luis Miñarro always enjoys coming to San Sebastián and this year, even more so this year as he has the privilege of being able to judge the fourteen films in the Latin Horizons section. He’s been to the Festival seven times so he’s really familiar with it. He points out the quality of the films in the Official Section and thinks that the parallel sections are particularly interesting, as they give people the chance to get an overview of a particular artist’s work or genre which he thinks is vital at a Festival.
Luis Miñarro has been working in film production for 13 years. Before he formed his own production company Eddie Saeta S.A. he used to work in advertising and he now specialises in arthouse films and new directors. “It’s not an easy path to follow, but what is really difficult is not producing films; what’s complicated is ensuring that they reach an audience and the major stumbling block is distributing and screening this kind of cinema".
