Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Entre os dedos is a harrowing drama in which almost all the characters are unhappy and you can hardly glimpse even a vestige of optimism. “It’s not that we have such a pessimistic vision of the world as the one that is shown in the film, but we do see this specific story like this,” the directors, Tiago Guedes and Federico Serra, wanted to make clearer yesterday.
If the characters in the story were ever happy or not or if they ever will be in the future is rather unlikely, but in any case, this is quite irrelevant for the Portuguese filmmakers as their aim has merely been to, ”capture a chunk of their lives in a specific period of time through minor elements".
The film, which is the second they have made together, was shot in black and white. Serra explained that this was due to the fact that, “first of all, because we like it, and secondly, because we think it provides the film with an aesthetic that goes really well with the storyline”.
