Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Scriptwriter and director Hirokazu Kore-Eda was grateful to return to the Festival for the third time to present Aruitemo, aruitemo/still walking.
“Three years ago my mother died and a lot of the events that I show, especially the dialogues, are based on memories I have of her,” he explained.
The director aimed to show the relations between the members of a Japanese family and the communication problems that exist between parents and children. He acknowledged that it contained certain autobiographical references: It’s a very personal film,”he stressed.
“Rather than providing a portrait of society in my country or showing its problems, what I intended to do was to reflect life through mundane everyday objects – a cake, some pyjamas, toothbrushes, and taking them as a starting point to show the relationships between its members.”
