Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Italian film lecturer and critic, born in Milan in 1949, he studied German Literature in Berlin and graduated in German Studies at the University of La Sapienza in Rome where he has been teaching Cinema and Criticism since 1991. In 2002 he began to teach cinema at the Tor Vergata University in Rome and Film History at the National Film School in the same city.
A specialist in the relationship between cinema and literature, and in German and Italian cinema, he has published numerous books on the subject. He has worked for various film magazines: “Bianco & Nero”, “Cineforum”, “Segno Cinema”, “Movie” and for several newspapers, including “L’Unità”, “Il Manifesto”, “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and “Frankfurter Rundschau”. In 1989 he co-directed a documentary about Bernardo Bertolucci for German television’s third channel.A consultant for various festivals (Taormina,Young Film Forum in Berlin, Munich,Turin or Venice), he has been running the Pesaro Film Festival since 2000. Since 1997 he has been the editor of a four-monthly film magazine called “Close-Up”, and since 1998 its Internet version, “Close- Up On Line”.
