Set in Lyon and Paris, 1952. A young and very ambitious journalist, Louise Commandeur, leaves Lyon and moves to Paris. Walter, chief editor of "París-France", an widely read newspaper, is empathetic and decides to help him realize his dreams. Driven by ambition, Commandeur neves ceases trying to usurp Walter, and finally succeeds by using his talents to help a dishonest pollitician. However, his previously loyal wife, Eva, withdraws her love and affection, but, fascinated by his desire to get to the top, she comes back to his side.
