Synopsis
Macabea, an innocent girl, orphan and without an education, leaves her home-town to try and make it in the big city, Sao Paulo. The pathetic encounter with the social masks and the traps of city life, make her extremelly unhappy. A visit to a soothsayer tells of an encounter with a very rich man driving a luxurious car.
