With archive images of the 1950s, two personalities (Pier Paolo Pasolini and Giovanni Guareschi) answer the same question: Why have our lives always been characterized by discontent, anguish and fear? The film is divided into two clearly differentiated parts. In the first part, Pasolini responds with his conviction as a man of the left; in the second, Guareschi, supports the conservative version.
