In the summer of 1900 two children are born in the Province of Emilia, Olmo Daco, poor bastard, and Alfredo Berlinghieri, landowner, both belonging to two different worlds. However, they will be friends. Despite their different situations, each one will know how to survive the deep changes of the twentieth century that they have to live and thus reach old age.
