As Orpheuz, the character brought to life by terence Stamp, he wants to snatch his wife (Vivian) from death. He must not look backwards, to the past, and must fight against himself. Terence will defeat himself and sacrifice himself for love, exchanging Vivian's life for his own. The plot of the action lies in science fiction: man has discovered the time machine. Terence will be the first explorer of the future. But, to attain this, he must take part ina 'fear safari', in which he will put his life in danger in front of millions of espectators, to provoke the energy which is necessary for the journey.
