Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Ten Years of Ikusmira Berriak cycle, jointly organised by the Festival, Tabakalera and Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola, proposes an exploration and celebration, in retrospect, of the ten years of the Ikusmira Berriak film residency. The third session will feature a screening of the short film Gwendolyn Green (2017, 20') and the feature film All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt (2023, 97'), directed by Tamyka Smith and Raven Jackson respectively.
Sinopsis:
Gwendolyn Green: Inspired by true events, this is the story of Gwendolyn Green, an elderly, widowed woman living out her days alone, inside a gated Palm Springs residence, as if she were stuck in another era. As Gwendolyn's lack of social graces and isolation start to close in on her, she picks up the telephone and dials 911 in search of human connection. Gwendolyn creates a special bond with the responding officer, finding in him the care and connection to the modern world she craves.
All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt: A lyrical, decades-spanning exploration across a woman's life in Mississippi, the feature debut from award-winning poet, photographer and filmmaker Raven Jackson is a haunting and richly layered portrait, a beautiful ode to the generations of people and places that shape us.
